Singer Harry Styles turned heads with his comments while accepting his award for Album of the Year at this year’s Grammy Awards.
The famous artist really didn’t think well before speaking and delivering his acceptance speech, leaving many stunned at what he had to say after winning one of the biggest and most prestigious honors of the entire evening.
It certainly did not take long for anyone to slam the celebrity for his ‘white privilege’ behavior after what he stated while accepting an award last night at the Grammys.
Not only did he appear baffled and clueless as to what should be said while giving thanks, he really did startle audiences with a certain line that raised eyebrows by many hearing him live.
Harry won the award for the best pop vocal album of the year and his acceptance speech was more than underwhelming. But what exactly did he say that had the world stunned?
Well, for starters, he mentioned how things like this certainly don’t happen to people like him. And that had plenty of eyeballs rolling.
He then detailed how there is no such thing as best in the world of music, adding how he had been listening to the music of all artists nominated in this category and loved each of them equally.
He further continued by mentioning how most artists don’t sit in music studios, hoping they’ll attain an award like this. And that had people baffled as to what exactly he was trying to prove.
But the most striking line of them all when he left the stage was, ‘this does not happen to people like me anymore’ had many confused.
And that’s when Twitter because abuzz on the matter, reminding others how he was a white man growing up in England and hence as per tradition, men like him are less likely to be rewarded for their efforts when keeping history in mind.
They felt it was far from the truth, especially when looking at the past winners in this category, and hence his comment was not appreciated for obvious reasons.
