The whereabouts of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children remained unknown in the final hours before the Queen’s state funeral.
While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended vigils for Her Majesty in Westminster Hall, 3-year-old Archie and 15-month-old Lilibet are believed to have stayed in the US.
Reports say that they have been at their Montecito home under the care of Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and nannies.
Doria, the only member of the Duchess’s family to have attended the 2018 royal wedding, was spotted out alone in LA on Friday.
Harry and Meghan were on a pseudo-royal tour and were scheduled to return to America on the day Her Majesty passed away at Balmoral Castle on September 8.
In June, Archie and Lilibet joined their great-grandmother at a private lunch in Windsor, said Omid Scobie, a journalist close to the couple.
After the Queen died at the age of 96, Harry released a statement and said: “Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings — from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren.
”
Some reports claim that King Charles will not reveal the new titles for Harry and Meghan’s children until the official royal mourning period is over.
On the website of the Royal Family, they are referred to as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.
Many believe that the children will be given Prince and Princess titles but will not receive His and Her Royal Highness (HRH) titles as their parents are not working Royals.
