The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to ‘keep it simple’ and avoid overshadowing the Queen during their visit to the UK for the Platinum Jubilee, sources revealed.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will fly to England with only a small security team, leaving their senior staff in California.
They will stay at Frogmore Cottage along with their children Archie and Lilibet, who will celebrate her first birthday on June 4.
The Sussexes are expected to attend the Service of Thanksgiving with Her Majesty at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday.
Sources said that the couple will not conduct their program of events during their stay in England to avoid overshadowing the celebrations for the Queen’s 70-year reign.
But Meghan’s estranged half-sister, Samantha Markle, said “the door is wide open” for the Duchess to connect with their dad Thomas Markle if she wants to.
Speaking about their father, Samantha told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “He loves all of us and he’s been bashed in the media for always speaking out to extend an olive branch to reach out to her. He is her father so he has a right to reach out to her.
“He has been very honest and open in those feelings and the door is wide open.
“She’s always had his phone number – it hasn’t changed – and his address, so any suggestion that she doesn’t know how to get hold of him and that she wanted to be private is somewhat ridiculous on the grounds that, if you want to reach out to your father privately, you know how to do it.”
Meghan’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr also told GB News that the Duchess needed to “show some support for your dad” who was hospitalized after suffering a stroke.
Frogmore was gifted by the Queen to her grandson Harry and is currently being used by Princess Eugenie and her husband, who are reportedly out of the country.
