American actress Barbara Bosson has passed away at the age of 83, her family confirmed.
The saddening news was announced by the late TV star’s director son, Jesse Bochco, who posted a tear-jerking tribute to his mother on social media.
“More spirit and zest than you could shake a stick at. When she loved you, you felt it without a doubt. If she didn’t, you may well have also known that too. Forever in our hearts. I love you Mama,” he wrote in his Instagram post.
The grieving son also shared a photo showing his mother cradling him in her arms when he was still a baby.
“Rest easy mom,” Bochco wrote in a separate post.
Barbara was best known for appearing as divorcee Fay Furillo in 103 episodes of the NBC drama Hill Street Blues from 1981 to 1986.
She also appeared in a variety of other TV shows including Hooperman, Cop Rock, Murder One, and Murder One: Diary of a Serial Killer.
The actress, who was born in 1939, moved to Florida in 1957. After being unable to pay her tuition fees at Carnegie-Mellon, the young woman moved to New York where she became a Playboy bunny and worked for the American Conservatory Theater.
In the 1960s, Barbara met Steven Bochco whom she tied the knot with in 1970 and stayed married to until their 1997 divorce. Bochco passed away in 2018 after a battle with cancer.
Barbara is survived by son Jesse, daughter Melissa, and her two grandchildren.
Our thoughts remain with the late actress’s family and friends during this challenging time.
