A landmark case is being talked about in London where an e-scooter rider has gone about suing the local council after breaking her leg.
According to reports from local media outlets, the young woman fractured her leg while riding on the road illegally. And that’s when she stumbled open a pothole that caused her to hit the ground in a violent manner.
She blames the council for the city’s poor state of infrastructure and feels it’s high time she’s compensated.
The figure being outlined is a staggering $30,000 and she feels that’s sufficient for the sort of damages, both emotional and physical, that she’s been through.
22-year-old Giovanna Drago explained how the incident took place in Barnet in North London and it’s been one of the most agonizing experiences of her life.
As far as her lawyers are concerned, they claim she deserves a payout because it took 20 months for the leg to heal. But this is definitely one of the most unique cases of its kind, explained experts.
Speaking to the London County Court recently, Drago revealed how she couldn’t avoid the pothole, even if she wanted to. It was dusk at that time and it was hard for her to see.
She is now suing the London Borough of Barnet for failing to maintain the road and wants compensation for everything she’s been through.
Her injuries included a broken left knee that took place after her Xiaomi Mi Pro 2 e-scooter hit a pothole in October 2020.
“Yes I am entitled to get all of these claims as damage compensation despite the fact that I rode on the road illegally”- she continued.
