Passengers aboard a Delta flight received a mighty scare after the plane’s engine caught on fire while on the tarmac at Orlando International Airport.
The incident in Florida saw many horrified passengers panic, many of whom were inside the plane, as well as others watching from the windows inside the airport.
Video on social media shows the exact moment when people start to lose their cool as smoke and flames begin to rise from the plane’s right engine.
The passengers exiting the plane went down inflatable emergency slides. The Delta flight 1213 was all set to depart from Orlando’s airport when they were met with this terrifying outcome.
There were nearly 300 people on board the aircraft at the time, and no reports of any injuries were made so far. The airport shared a post through social media where it confirmed that all the passengers were safe and the fire and aircraft rescue teams were on the site after promptly responding to the calls for an emergency.
The Airbus A330 was carrying 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots, Delta shared in response to a statement asked by local media outlets.
The airline shared how the crews evacuated the cabin when flames were seen in part of one of the plane’s two main engines. An investigation is now being carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
