Sources close to Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have spoken out and claimed that their split comes as no surprise.
Taking their fans by surprise, the Aussie actor and actress issued a joint statement in which they confirmed they were parting ways after 27 years of marriage in order to pursue their “individual growth.”
While no specific reasons were mentioned, an insider now told Page Six that the breakup was a “long time coming” after Hugh and Deborra transformed from partners into “roommates.”
“Deb wasn’t at rehearsals very much. She was even spotted snoozing during some of them,” the source insisted.
“It happened a while ago. Friends and family knew about it.”
The insider also claimed that a third party was not involved in the breakup.
The saucy details come shortly after the pair announced their split in a statement obtained by People.
“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” Jackman and Furness wrote.
“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
The celeb couple also said they would not be providing further details and that this was their sole statement.
Hugh and Deborra tied the knot in 1996, a year after they first met each other. In the following years, they adopted two children including Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.
