Imane Khelif has proved to the world that no matter how many people try to bring you down, never give up.
The gender row box has not only managed to storm into the Paris Olympics final on Friday night but has come out on top.
Khelif beat her Chinese opponent fair and square. The Algerian did a great job at dismantling Yang Liu from China in the welterweight final as a packed audience watched with intrigue.
It was a controversial march for Imane in the first place but she did not lose a single round and has now been crowned victorious in the sport.
The fight was certainly one of the most eagerly anticipated ones in a long time as the star delighted the crowd with her incredible talent and performance.
Khelif vowed to bring home the gold for her country, citing how challenging this entire competition has been for her. This includes all the backlash she’s faced in regards to her gender and many feeling she had an unfair advantage.
The athlete was also asked by the head of the International Boxing Association to provide proof of being a woman, which her father did.
He went public with her records, including her passport and her birth certificate which proved she was a female at birth.
Khelif was certainly the favorite to win the match but anything was possible. She posed with a huge smile across her face and put all the trash talk and bullying behind her to reach this historic moment.
