A massive fire was seen tearing down a nightclub in North Macedonia’s eastern town of Kocani during the early hours of Sunday.
The incident left more than 51 people dead and injured over 100 as per the local authorities.
The massive blaze broke out at about 2:35 am during a concert organized by a local pop group at the Pulse Nightclub, as per the country’s interior minister who explained more about the matter to authorities.
Pyrotechnics caused the roof of the club to catch on fire. Videos displayed chaos inside the club with youngsters running through the huge plumes of smoke as the musicians urged others to escape as swiftly as possible.
Officials explained how the injured were rushed to hospitals around the nation, including the capital city of Skopje. Most of the injuries were related to severe burns. Now, the effort is being assisted by different volunteer organizations.
The health minister recently confirmed that 118 were battling with serious injuries and getting treated at the hospital. Neighboring countries like Greece, Albania, and Bulgaria have also rushed to offer assistance in this regard.
Sources shared how this is the worst tragedy of its kind to befall the landlocked country. Most of those dead are youngsters as families rushed to find out the fate of their loved ones.
