Terrifying reports have confirmed a serious incident of turbulence aboard a Lufthansa flight.
This left five passengers and six crew members suffering injuries, a spokesperson for the airline mentioned.
The news was confirmed as a part of an email that confirmed that the safety of the flight was not in jeopardy at any point in time.
The injured are believed to have been given immediate medical treatment after the plane landed safely at its planned destination on Tuesday as per the airline.
The Boeing plane was carrying 329 passengers and 19 crew members. The turbulence was short-lived and took place at an intertropical convergence zone, as mentioned by the company.
As per data taken from FlightRadar24, the plane climbed 33k feet before it was battered by severe turbulence over the Atlantic after taking off from Buenos Aires.
As it climbed 35k feet to try and get around the pocket of bad weather, five passengers who were not wearing their seatbelts at the time got injured.
The plane suddenly dropped from 511 knots to just 180 knots in less than one minute. This was right before it climbed back up to a cruising speed of 517 knots.
After landing, the injured crew and passengers were rushed to the hospital where they got immediate medical attention.
