The family of National Hockey League star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudrew are speaking out about the horrific tragedy that took away the brothers.
Johnny and Mathew were killed during the evening hours of Thursday while riding a bike in Oldmans Township, Salem County in New Jersey.
As per reports from the New Jersey State Police, it was confirmed that they were struck by an alleged drunk driver.
The man behind the wheel of the vehicle happened to pass another car and fatally rammed into both brothers. This report was published in People Magazine after confirmation.
The SUV Higgins was trying to pass reportedly moved into the road’s center to give the Gaudreau brothers some room.
Since then, the driver Higgins has been jailed and charged with two counts of death by an automobile.
The heartbreaking tragedy came just a single day before they were both set to be a groomsman in their sister’s wedding as Katie Gaudreau prepared to marry her hockey player lover Devin Joyce in Gloucester City New Jersey.
Just hours before the tragedy ensued, the family had hosted a wedding rehearsal but nobody knew that the ceremony would be canceled in the end.
