Actress and writer Jamie Lee Curtis has shown support for the people of Ukraine after blasting Russia and calling Putin a laughingstock.
Taking to the red carpet at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater during the 94th Academy Awards, the 63-year-old Walk of Famer made a statement as she sported a blue ribbon to show her support for Ukrainian refugees who were forced to flee from their war-ridden country.
For the occasion, the actress donned a dark mesh dress and wore a blue ribbon that read ‘with refugees’ around her ring finger.
The statement comes shortly after the legendary actress blasted Putin and suggested relations with Russia are forever ruined because of their invasion of Ukraine.
“We are in the middle of a crisis that is possibly going to affect all of us,” Curtis told People.
“Right now it’s affecting the beautiful people of Ukraine. It has the possibility of becoming much wider and therefore, all of us need to be paying a lot of attention to this aggression.
“Putin’s a laughingstock. It’s hard to imagine ever having any diplomatic relations with Russia again.”
Curtis wasn’t the only one to make a statement on Sunday night’s Academy Awards.
Showing his support for the people of Ukraine was also the Aquaman star Jason Momoa who wore a pocket square in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
“Glory to Ukraine,” the Game of Thrones star told the reporters while talking down the red carpet.
Meanwhile, actress Marlee Matlin paid a tribute to the Ukrainian people by donning a blue and gold necklace.
Among other stars who wore #withrefugees ribbons on the red carpet was also actor Samuel L. Jackson and songwriter Diane Warren who insisted the ribbon wasn’t political but is “the least we can do.”
