US President Joe Biden welcomed a transgender activist and TikTok star to his Oval Office to discuss her transgender issues in the country.
Dylan Mulvaney sparked controversy after she announced that she will be a mother one day.
She documents on social media her ‘firsts’ as a woman and revealed that she as well as other members of NowThis News were going to the White House for an exclusive interview.
In a video that gained more than 500,000 likes, she said: “I’m ready to step up and show trans people we’re not going anywhere and that trans kids they deserve a fighting chance to be their true selves.”
Mulvaney, who has been living as a woman for several months, said she “wants to be a mom one day and I absolutely can,” adding that “the narrative still has a long way to go.”
But some feminists accused her of ‘womanface,’ claiming she is play-acting the parts of being a woman she likes but ignoring the misogyny faced by women on a daily basis.
During a digital campaign of Ulta Beauty entitled ‘The Beauty Of…’ the podcast saw Mulvaney being interviewed by David Lopez, a gender-fluid hairstylist, about ‘all things girlhood.’
But customers were quick to slam the podcast and said that the influencer and the company were ‘trolling women.’
The company defended the TikTok star and wrote in a statement: “At Ulta Beauty, we believe that beauty is for everyone—and we kindly request that everyone be treated with respect on our channels.”
The viral video Mulvaney shared about her time at the White House and showed the outfit she wore, which featured colors of the transgender flag.
“Do you think I just knock on the front door,” she joked before flashing photos from inside the building.
“The president of the United States gave me a cookie,” she added.
