Hollywood star Johnny Depp delivered a powerful performance at a star-studded concert in tribute to late guitarist and friend Jeff Beck.
The 59-year-old The Pirates of the Caribbean star, who began pursuing his passion for music in recent years, held a concert in tribute to the legendary English guitarist shortly after making an appearance at France’s Cannes Film Festival.
Delivering an unforgettable performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Depp sported black jeans, a white shirt, and a jacket featuring an image of Beck on top of his iconic beret and shades.
Joining Depp, who toured with Beck last year just months before the guitarist’s passing, in paying tribute to the musician were also several high-profile figures such as Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, and Joss Stone.
The performance marks the first of two tribute concerts announced in Beck’s honor by his late wife, Sandra Beck, and guitarist Eric Clapton.
The news comes shortly after it was revealed that Depp was by Beck’s side in the moments leading to his death.
“They had a really tight friendship, they were extremely close, and he got even closer over this past summer when they were touring together,” a source told People after Beck’s passing in January.
“The sickness came on really quickly and it all deteriorated rapidly in the last couple weeks. Johnny is still processing this news. He’s devastated.”
Back in 2022, Beck and Depp toured together across the US and Europe and went on to release a joint album titled 18.
“When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity. We would joke about how we felt 18 again, so that just became the album title too,” Beck previously said of his collaboration with Depp.
