A judge has reportedly ruled against a family’s plea to have their 12-year-old boy’s life support machine treatment continue, despite him suffering brain damage.
According to reports from local media outlets, the patient named Archie Battersbee is currently fighting for his life on the machine at the Royal London Hospital that is located in the eastern part of the city of London.
But after hearing his whole case being presented to the court, the judge has ruled against their plea and ordered the switching off of the machine.
The incident has brought a family down to a point of sheer grief as this is definitely not what they had imagined taking place.
The news came directly from the High Court where the decision was believed to be revealed recently.
Doctors treating the young child mentioned how he was ‘brain stem dead’ and therefore they believe he needed to be disconnected from a ventilator soon.
Now, Archie’s parents are sharing their son’s story with the world, claiming their child’s heart is still beating and hence they wish the treatment would continue as it would give him another shot at life.
During the early hours of the morning, Mrs. Justice Arbuthnot mentioned how Archie was dead and claimed it was now time for the doctors to stop treating him in a lawful manner.
But his mother has disagreed with the verdict and is now vowing to appeal the move while fighting her tears back.
“I refuse to give up hope. This is the child that we are talking about here. I know my son is still in there somewhere”- she continued.
The judge also added how she finds that Archie had passed away during the noon hours of May 31, 2022. And that was just a short while after his MRI scans were produced that day.
