Julia Wendell, the 21-year-old Polish woman who believes she is the missing girl Madeleine McCann, has opened up about her plans for the near future.
The young woman recently made headlines after pointing out her resemblance to the child that went missing at the age of three while vacationing with her parents in Portugal back in 2007.
Determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, Wendell underwent DNA testing and fled to the US where she appeared for an interview with Dr. Phil.
Speaking to the legendary TV host, Julia admitted she believes she is Madeleine McCann while insisting that she doesn’t want anything to do with her mother in Poland after overhearing her say that “they took her.”
Furthering her claim, Julia alleged her parents turned down a request to undergo a DNA test while having no proof of bringing her up in her early years.
The 21-year-old also revealed that she doesn’t want to keep contact with her family in Poland even if the test she took to prove she was Madeleine McCann comes back negative.
The disowning of her family comes shortly after Julia’s parents spoke out and suggested their daughter was a liar and a manipulator.
“For us as a family it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and step niece,” they said.
“We have memories, we have pictures. Julia also has these photos, because she took them from the family home with the birth certificate, as well as numerous hospital discharges.”
Suggesting the allegations were part of Julia’s scheme to become famous, they added:
“Julia once wanted to be a singer, a model. She always wanted to be popular. Threats to our address from Julia, her lies and manipulations, activity on the internet.
“What’s happening now is she has got 1 million followers. The internet won’t forget, and it’s obvious that Julia isn’t Maddie. We are devastated at this current situation.”
