Kaley Cuoco has spoken out and shared a dire warning after her beloved dog came down with a serious medical condition caused by a common plant.
The 37-year-old Big Bang Theory star, who recently became a mom as she welcomed baby Mathilda into her family, revealed that her dog King fell violently ill and began vomiting uncontrollably.
In a post addressed to “all my dog lovers out there,” the beloved actress explained that her companion’s heart was almost pierced by foxtail – a weed-type grass that can burrow into dogs’ skin and cause serious problems such as infections or worse.
“They are extremely dangerous to animals esp dogs. We spent the last 2 months trying to figure out what was wrong [with] our King,” Kaley wrote.
“He had been violently ill and nothing was working. Many vet appts, surgery and endless meds. Finally found a specialist who found 2 of these in his body days away from piercing his heart!!”
In an update, the actress also shared post-surgery photos of her dog and explained that King is doing much better after having parts of his body shaved and undergoing surgery.
“He is doing soooo much better but as u can see he has tons of stitches from a super intense surgery,” she added.
“Also please note these must be surgically removed. They do not heal on their own! Take care of your pets or don’t have one! We are so grateful he is OK and will live a long happy life!”
King’s health scare comes just months after Cuoco lost her beloved dog Dump Truck.
“Heavy heart today. We had to say goodbye to one of our pack. DUMP TRUCK aka Dumpy was kind of a legend. He ignored me for the first six months I knew him. But slowly, he let me carry him. Pet him. Give him 2nd dinner. Give him 3rd dinner,” the animal lover, who rescued several dogs and horses, said in a tribute to Dump Truck back in May.
“He would stay up late with me and we would do midnight snack. And by the end he was my guy – and he let me hold him and cuddle him and he always gave me kisses.
“He really was a special dog. What he lacked in size he more than made up for in personality. And in a house FULL of personality.”
