Kanye West has opened about his relationship with Kim Kardashian admitting that his 2020 presidential caused tension in their marriage.
Kanye West has shared that he “embarrassed” his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian with his failed run for US president last year.
The rapper and designer announced his bid for the White House on the Fourth of July, 2020 revealing that he was running as an Independent under the “Birthday Party” after publicly expressing his support for then-President Donald Trump.
In recent weeks, Kanye has been increasingly vocal about his failed relationship with Kim, who filed for divorce in February after almost seven years of marriage citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The rapper runs through a catalog of his faults and misdeeds in a lengthy Thanksgiving prayer shared on Instagram. Kanye who has legally changed his name to Ye has spoken candidly about a number of missteps he has made in his life.
He declared his thanks for his “blood family, fans, and haters,” referring in part to the four children he shares with Kim: North, 8, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2.
He reveals the prayer was written on his way from taking son Saint to his first football game, describing the youngster as his “mini-me” who is a mix of his two “favorite things – me and my wife’s face”.
He continued: “All I think about every day is how I get my family back together and how I heal the pain that I’ve caused. I take accountability for my actions… new word alert: “misactions”. The one thing that all my successes and failures have in common is me.”
Kanye went on to say his drinking affected his health and the health of those around him and added that after going on and off heavy medication, he went through manic episodes that Kim and his fans had to endure.
Referring to the Trump-supporting “Make America Great Again” cap he took to wearing, West said: “Good lord, my wife did not like me wearing the red hat.”
He continued: “Being a good wife, she just wanted to protect me and our family. I made me and our family a target by not aligning with Hollywood’s political stance, and that was hard for our marriage.”
“Then I ran for president without proper preparation and no allies on either side. I embarrassed my wife in the way that I presented information about our family during the one and—thank God—only press conference. All my dad had to say afterward was, “Write your speech next time, son,” he added.
He also admits to having an “overbearing” ego and a temper that “did not help me keep my family together.” The rapper also declared spending “money like crazy” and becoming a “self-righteous Christian.”
West discussed the press conference he gave early on in his bid for president when he revealed he and Kardashian contemplated aborting their first child.
He said: “Mix that with being rich and famous and very very very very very very attractive and you got a Molotov cocktail ready to be thrown through the window of anyone who ever disagreed with me. I was arrogant with my Jesus like I just got me some Jesus at the Gucci store with a stimulus check.”
He ended his lengthy prayer by stressing the need to take “accountability” and praising Kim for their family. He said: “I’ve had to learn that I had to take accountability. We always judge and tell other people what they should do but we can only take accountability for ourselves and our children.”
“This Thanksgiving I’m thankful for the family that my wife has given me. I’m thankful for the life that God has given me. And I’m thankful for your time, attention, and patience,” he added.
This all comes just a day after Kanye delivered a speech at the Los Angeles Mission’s Annual Thanksgiving event, where he revealed he believes God will bring him and Kim back together.
During a speech, while dropping off 1,000 meals for skid row in LA, he said: “I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable as a husband.”
“When God brings Kimye together there’s gonna be millions of families that are gonna be influenced to see that they can overcome the work of the separation of trauma,” he added.
However, Kim is reportedly loved up with comedian Pete Davidson after the pair hosted Saturday Night Live Together. They’ve been spotted going on dates and holding hands, with sources saying the couple is “smitten”.
