Kanye West has reportedly added Camille Vasquez to his legal team shortly after suffering a major backlash and getting dropped by Balenciaga.
The troubled rapper, who recently sparked outrage and calls for retribution after launching a series of anti-Semitic rants on his social media profiles, is believed to have hired the Brown Rudnick firm to handle his business interests.
Among the lawyers brought on board is reportedly partner Camille Vasquez who received worldwide fame after representing Johnny Depp in his defamation suit against Amber Heard.
While the law firm in question has yet to confirm the alleged partnership, the rumors have been confirmed by TMZ.
The news comes shortly after Balenciaga led by example by dropping West as their partner following his repeated attacks on the Jewish population.
“Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” the fashion house’s parent company, Kering, confirmed.
Amid the rapper’s fallout, Adidas, too, has threatened to cut all ties with the infamous singer as they put their relationship under review.
Meanwhile, Friends star David Schwimmer and the Anti-Defamation League, an international Jewish organization specializing in civil rights, increased their pressure on organizations and businesses to drop their deals and cut their ties with the disgraced musician.
“Join me and the Anti-Defamation League in demanding Adidas #RunAwayFromHate and sharing a link to a petition from Campaign Against Antisemitism calling for West to be dropped -which has garnered more than 3000 signatures,” Schwimmer posted.
He also shared a controversial video in which Ye spoke about his ties to Adidas, whose founders were linked to the Nazi party, while saying: “The thing I can say about Adidas is, I can literally say anti-Semitic s**t and they can’t drop me, I can say anti-Semitic things and Adidas can’t drop me.”
The Anti-Defamation League also addressed the footwear company in an open letter in which they wrote: “We urge Adidas to reconsider supporting the Ye product line and to issue a statement making clear that the Adidas company and community has no tolerance whatsoever for antisemitism.”
