Prince William and Princess Kate were seen skipping the yearly royal family pre-holiday lunch that was scheduled for the family today at Buckingham Palace.
For those who might not be aware, it’s a tradition each year and all senior royals are expected to attend as invites were released well before time by the King.
Now, a close source at the Palace explained to the Times UK that both the Prince and Princess of Wales will not be attending because they’re not in town.
They are in Norfolk with the kids to mark the start of the holidays. The kids have also left with the parents so the whole family is currently in Norfolk.
Sources tried to clear up the air and how the family’s absence had nothing to do with Prince Andrew pulling out of the family event amid reports about his links with Chinese spies.
The King was pictured arriving at the palace for the pre-Christmas lunch inside his car with a private secretary by his side.
Prince Edward and his wife Sophie were pictured arriving at the brunch. This festive occasion takes place each year about a week before the Christmas holidays with nearly 70 guests attending by tradition.
Last year, Charles hosted the grand celebration at Windsor Castle but this year, he’s brought it back to Buckingham Palace again where it was always held when Queen Elizabeth II was alive.
