Keanu Reeves reportedly donated 70% of his entire salary from ‘The Matrix’ movie to research on leukemia.
The star chose to fund the leukemia research because his younger sister Kim also battled the illness for ten long years and for that same reason, it held a special place in his heart.
The 57 year old actor revealed how he was paid nearly $10 million upfront for the blockbuster hit film, and he even earned nearly $35 million in total when the first film came out in 1999 for the franchise.
But Keanu says that he was so inspired by his sister and the way she managed to battle it out in the end that he just had to donate the sum of money for cancer research, especially the leukemia.
Kim was diagnosed with the blood cancer in the year 1991 and she is now 55 years old.
During her journey of illness and extremely lows, the celeb reportedly became her caretaker and assisted her throughout the entire process of recovery.
Close sources revealed how Keanu made it a point to help her fight this will strong will and determination and that’s why he spent a decade by her side, right before she went into remission.
The Matrix star’s devotion and care for his sister is definitely something mind blowing for many to encompass.
Moreover, reports have even gone on to mention how he sold his residence just so he could be more closer to Kim during her illness.
