Kevin Costner’s ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, is now seeking $248,000 a month in child support after rejecting the actor’s $52,000-a-month proposal.
Baumgarter, 49, was not impressed by her ex’s offering and slammed it as ‘inappropriate,’ with previous reports claiming that the Yellowstone star had initially proposed $38,000 but has increased his offering.
The former couple share three children together: Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13.
The handbag designer has claimed that her ex-husband “spends $240,000 a month on himself and the kids when they’re with him.”
The 68-year-old actor has claimed that Baumgartner breached their pre-nuptial agreement by refusing to move out of their beachfront property in California.
In court documents obtained by TMZ, Baumgartner says that the new $52,000 offer is ‘well below’ the $65,000-a-month Costner receives for renting out his guest house.
She also claims that the amount is below what their kids are used to as they are ‘used to living at the beach and in a gated neighborhood.’
Costner’s attorney was quick to respond and said that his client has been paying for all his children’s expenses and has no plans to stop.
Baumgartner claimed that their children have a lifestyle maintained by a team of staff, including people who shop for them and also cleaners.
The $240,000 a month she is seeking is believed to also be for bills, utilities, and other expenses.
Baumgartner previously said that she would vacate the California property on August 31 as long as her ex-husband provided financial assistance. But the Let Him Go actor claimed that according to their pre-nuptial agreement, she had to move out 30 days after filing for divorce in May.
Baumgartner’s attorneys responded in a filing, writing: “Christine understands that at some point in the future, she and the children will have to move out of the family home.
“She cannot do so at this early stage of the case because she does not have sufficient funding to secure housing that will ensure the children can maintain similar standards of living in the parties’ respective homes.”
Costner’s legal team insisted that Baumgartner “has at her disposal almost $1.5m in cash to find alternative housing,” adding that their client “made multiple offers to assist her in relocating.”
