Tragic reports have confirmed an air crash involving a Japanese medical transport helicopter.
Three out of six people on board the air ambulance that was reportedly carrying a patient died after it crashed into the sea in the southwestern Japan region on Sunday.
As per the Japanese coast guard, the pilot, helicopter mechanic, and one nurse were rescued by the coast guard after they were found clinging to inflatable lifesavers.
Their body temperatures fell to abnormally low levels as reported by local media outlets. This left with suffering from hypothermia as confirmed by an official with the Coast Guard who spoke to the Associated Press.
The remains of another medical doctor, the patient, and her caretaker were then recovered by the country’s Air Self Defence Force helicopter.
The coast guard reportedly deployed two giant planes and three ships to the region as part of the rescue operation. Sources shared how six people were flying on what many call the Doctor Helicopter, but it’s so sad that only half of them made it out alive. As of now, investigations are taking place to determine the reason for this tragic crash.
