King Charles has broken his silence after being diagnosed with cancer while receiving treatment for benign enlarged prostate.
The 75-year-old monarch offered his ‘heartfelt thanks’ to the public for their well wishes and messages of support.
In a statement shared by Sandringham House, the monarch said he was ‘hearted’ to hear that his experience inspires other people to get checkups.
“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” his letter read.
“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”
The letter added: “It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world.
“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”
The King received the diagnosis after a ‘separate issue of concern was noted’ and was discovered while he was getting treated for enlarged prostate.
Buckingham Palace previously confirmed that the monarch does not have prostate cancer and said that he has a ‘form of cancer.’
According to Daily Mail, sources said that he is well enough to attend meetings but he has postponed public-facing duties.
The letter signed by King Charles comes after his son, Prince Harry, flew from Los Angeles to London to visit him.
The Duke of Sussex reportedly spent around 45 minutes with his father, which is thought to be their first face-to-face contact since the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.
