His Majesty, The King, has paid tribute to his beloved mother Queen Elizabeth who died peacefully at the age of 96.
King Charles III’s statement came only half an hour after the heartbreaking announcement.
“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” his statement read.
“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother,” the King continued.
“I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.
“During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”
Clarence House has confirmed that the King will be known as King Charles III. His full name is Charles Philip Arthur George and it is possible that he could’ve chosen to use one of these names.
According to reports, Charles was by his mother’s side after flying from Dumfries House in Ayrshire with his wife.
Princess Anne was already at Balmoral because royal engagements.
They were joined by other members of the Family, including Prince William, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.
After frequently speaking about a slimmed-down front line, it is believed that the King want to ensure that there are ‘no hangers-on’ in the Firm.
The concept of the ‘slimmed-down monarch’ was evident during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June when the Queen only allowed a few members of the Royal Family to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
