A concert by KISS was stopped abruptly on Thursday after Gene Simmons started feeling ill all of a sudden.
The concert, which was held in Manaus, Brazil, came to a pause after lead singer Paul Stanley noticed his bandmate feeling sickly and struggling to stand.
“Hold on, hold on. We’re gonna have to stop,” the singer and guitarist told the shocked audience who gathered for the concert which is part of the rockers’ End Of The Road World Tour.
“We know how much you love Gene, and he’s obviously sick. We’re gonna have to stop to take care of him, because we love him, right?”
Concerned Stanley added: “Let’s give Gene a really loud, ‘Gene!’ One, two, three — Gene!”
After the health scare, Simmons briefly left the stage before returning just five minutes later to continue the concert.
Following his return to the stage, Simmons and the band performed ‘Say Yeah’ while the bassist and co-lead singer remained seated in his chair for comfort.
While KISS fans quickly voiced their concerns for Simmons as a result of the onstage health scare, the singer spoke out after the concert to reassure his supporters that he was okay.
“Ok, kids. Not a big deal. Thanks for your kind wishes. Last night we played Amazon jungle Stadium/Brazil. Humidity and temperature were sky high. I was dehydrated and was forced to sit for a song,” he tweeted.
“We got back on stage in 5 minutes & finished the show.”
The health scare comes amid KISS’s End Of The Road World Tour which is set to be their final tour after five decades’ worth of success in the music industry.
