Bronny James’ doctors have issued a statement to share an update about the teenage basketball protégé’s condition after his medical emergency.
On Monday, the young man suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed during a practice in Los Angeles. His family, including the NBA star LeBron James, have since spoken out and confirmed that Bronny is out of deep water and in recovery.
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the Los Angeles hospital where Bronny was admitted, now also revealed that the teenager is fully conscious and stable.
“Thanks to the swift and effective response by the USC athletics’ medical staff, Bronny James was successfully treated for a sudden cardiac arrest,” the statement read.
“He arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact and stable. Mr. James was cared for promptly by highly-trained staff and has been discharged home, where he is resting.
“Although his workup will be ongoing, we are hopeful for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience, and his family and community support.”
The statement comes just moments after LeBron broke his silence and thanked his family’s supporters for all the good wishes.
“We feel you and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love,” the basketballer wrote.
As of this writing, the cause of the cardiac arrest remains unclear. It is also unclear if and when Bronny will be able to resume his basketball career.
“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information,” the James family said through a spokesperson.
“LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”
