President Trump has chosen to make good on his campaign promise to implement sweeping new taxes, doing so with great fanfare during an event on Wednesday afternoon.
Countries from all over the globe would impose a 10% tariff on imports. But countries with higher barriers to entry would be paying more.
That meant that the EU would be struck with 20% tariffs, with the White House saying it charges America 39%. The UK did manage to get off easier than the others. Since it charges just a 10% tariff, it would only be paying 10% in return.
China would be paying a 34% rise with the White House calculating that America pays 67% when currency manipulation is taken into consideration.
Trump proclaimed in his speech how he will be signing a historic executive order instituting reciprocal tariffs on nations around the globe.
Trump had his team by his side, including VP JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson, not to mention Cabinet Members and workers, as he vowed to make America great again.
