Lizzo has hit back at her critics saying she has the perfect face and rockin’ body in a viral Instagram clip.
The 34-year-old singer is no stranger to promoting body positivity and flaunting her curves on the stage during her performances.
Now, the beloved musician and influencer also shared her affirmation of beauty with her loyal fans in a viral video that hits back at the criticism that Lizzo has faced throughout her career.
“I just finished showering and doing my little routine, and you know what I realized – I am f**king gorgeous. I am the beauty standard. Catch up, b***h!” Lizzo says in her clip.
Captioning the footage, she added: “I’m sorry that my perfect face & rockin body offends you… I can’t help that I’m God’s favorite.”
Soon enough, the singer was inundated with messages of support and praise from fellow women who learned to accept their bodies for what they are.
“Lizzo!! I love you!! I’m a plus size woman and you’ve made me embrace my beautiful curves. Thanks for representing the big girls. Thanks for also putting big girls in your shows, videos, as backup dancers.. etc. we need to see it to believe we can do it sometimes, so thanks for not being afraid to be you!” someone wrote.
“Keep up the body positivity!! You are legit gorgeous and have the most beautiful skin I have ever seen. Your face glows without makeup, it’s miraculous!! Your positivity will always win against their negativity,” another said.
A third added: “We all need to be more like Lizzo. You really are the standard queen!!”
Lizzo, who is the founder of Yitty, is known for crushing the existing beauty standards and promoting body equality in the music and entertainment industry.
“Do we realize that artists are not here to fit into your beauty standards? Artists are here to make art, and this body is art,” she said earlier this year.
Back in 2020, she also told Vogue that she wants to be recognized as body-normative rather than body positive because she wants to “normalize” her body.
“I want to normalize my body. And not just be like, ‘Ooh, look at this cool movement. Being fat is body positive.’ No, being fat is normal,” she said at the time.
“I think now, I owe it to the people who started this to not just stop here. We have to make people uncomfortable again, so that we can continue to change. Change is always uncomfortable, right?”
