As per New York Governor Kathy Hochul, there is a ban on most kinds of outdoor camping, farming, and cooking in the area of Long Island. This includes parts of Hudson Valley as it continues to face very dry conditions.

Backyard pits, small campfires, and small scale cooking fires under contained conditions were exempt from the rule.

The ban will reportedly stay in place until a yearly statewide prohibition on outdoor fires, which would begin starting March 16 as per a new statement from the governor’s office.
