The longest married couple of Britain is celebrating its 81 years of togetherness at the age of 100 and 102.
Ron Bond and his wife Joyce have reportedly been married since the year 1941 and they claim to have fallen for one another at first sight. Now, the couple is rejoicing a remarkable milestone as they ring in their 81st wedding anniversary.
Speaking for an exclusive news interview, the couple claims that their friends and loved ones felt their marriage wouldn’t last long. But they proved all the odds against them wrong by making it happen and today, they couldn’t be more proud of this fabulous achievement.
The couple reportedly who hails from Buckinghamshire also went on to elaborate the secret to their married success. And that’s when they shed light upon how companionship is definitely not an easy process but to make it work, compromise definitely plays such an important role.
“We believe taking care of one another is the true secret of our married life success,” they went on to explain.
The couple spent the grand occasion, hand in hand, and by each other’s side at a retirement village. Their loved and profound affection and care for each other could still be seen in their eyes as they gazed into each other, just like the good old days of their romance.
Both Ron and Joyce tied the knot at Newport’s Pagnell Registry Office On January 4th in 1941 and since then, it’s always been about a little give and takes.
“We’ve spent nearly eight decades together and that’s way more than any of our well-wishers thought we’d be able to go,” the loving couple smiled and joked.
The milestone anniversary was accompanied by plenty of tea-time goodies while receiving a dedication from BBC Radio 2’s Ken Bruce, upon the request of their son Bill.
