A 9-year-old girl who lost her eyesight to a brain tumour has now gone as far as writing a book.
This young warrior says she wrote the book to inspire others to be more positive in life, despite all the hurdles and obstacles she has gone through.
Betsy Griffin who hails from Chorleywood says she is on a mission to inspire so many others going through some tough times that it’s alright and things will turn out to be better in the end.
The 9-year-old went blind after suffering from a rare medical condition. This was called optic nerve glioma. And while she was awfully young at the time, she knew that this was her fate and her destiny and she was willing to do everything to accept it.
Her debut book is called, ‘Out in the Woods’ and it is based upon so many of her powerful YouTube videos. She recently made her appearance on the morning show to talk about how difficult of a journey her life has been but that’s okay.
She feels that writing has allowed her to come out of that dark phase. Yes, her struggles are plenty and some did find her discussion about her life so heartbreaking as she’s so young.
Her dad was right there by her side throughout it all. And he spoke about how his daughter had the most enduring and long hospital appointments. Some would go as far as lasting 16 hours. During this period, she would be forced to undergo chemotherapy.
Yet, she always took on the battle like a true winner and valued her days as absolutely wonderful.
“She would be probed and spoken in all directions. But that never stopped her from being grateful for her chance to lead a life that was far from normalcy. She would call such daunting days as wonderful because that’s the sort of fighting spirit she is”- her dad adds.
