The woman who believes she could be the missing girl Madeleine McCann has claimed that a “mystery caller” allegedly tried to lure her to Portugal.
The disappearance of Madeleine McCann remains one of the most high-profile missing child cases in history nearly two decades after the then-3-year-old girl disappeared from her apartment while vacationing in Portugal together with her parents Kate and Gerry.
Now, a 21-year-old Polish woman, who identifies as Julia Wendell or Julia Faustyna, claims that she could be the missing child due to her resemblance to Madeleine and her parents’ suspicious behavior.
After Julia’s story went viral, the young woman fled her native Poland in fear for her safety and appeared on an episode of Dr. Phil to reveal that she is awaiting DNA test results that could confirm or rule out her story.
Julia’s private investigator, Dr. Fia Johansson, also revealed that her client was contacted by a mystery caller who allegedly tried to lure her to Portugal after her story hit the headlines.
“[The female caller] wanted her to fly to Portugal and be with her and saying that you should not be telling Fia Johansson that ‘I did talk to you about it, you have a passport, I can buy you the ticket and you can come to me, all you need is love,’” Johansson said.
The investigator also claimed that the caller tried to lure Julia to Praia da Luz, the same popular tourist destination where Madeleine went missing back in 2007.
While the identity of the caller remains shrouded in mystery, Johansson suggested the person might be linked to a human trafficking ring.
“This woman said that she always wanted to have a child and that she could be my mother because I need love in [my] life, and this the only thing that I need love and caring – and she can give it,” Johansson added.
