New details about Madonna’s condition and hospitalization have emerged after the singer ended up in the ICU.
The 64-year-old Queen of Pop was rushed to the hospital last month after being found unresponsive at her home following an episode of intense vomiting.
The singer’s manager has since revealed that the Like a Virgin hitmaker came down with a severe bacterial infection.
Following Madonna’s hospitalization, her family reportedly gathered and began preparing for the worst not knowing if she would recover from her illness or not.
Now, an insider with knowledge of Madonna’s condition and her grueling work ethic revealed that the singer ignored her symptoms for weeks before her collapse.
“She ignored some symptoms of illness for quite a while because she thought they would go away. But she didn’t want to take time away from rehearsals,” a source told People.
“She was rundown and not feeling 100 percent for a while in anticipation of her tour. She is relentless in her quest to be the best, to wow her fans and to do what others before her have not done.”
Another source confirmed this saying Madonna was determined to continue rehearsing for her final tour and not willing to take a break despite having a mild fever for nearly a month.
While Madonna received the necessary treatment and is currently recovering from the comfort of her home, her managers were forced to call for an emergency meeting and postpone her upcoming tour.
“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” manager Guy Oseary revealed last Wednesday.
He later added that “at this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.”
Our thoughts remain with Madonna as her recovery continues.
