Madonna has spoken out and addressed her fans after suffering a medical emergency that forced her to postpone her upcoming tour.
The Queen of Pop was brought down by an untreated bacterial infection that landed her in the ICU after bouts of fever and vomiting rendered her unconscious at her home.
Since her shock hospitalization, the 64-year-old was discharged from the hospital and allowed to continue her recovery from home. While the singer is said to be doing better now, she is still too weak to continue her rehearsals for her final tour.
“Thank you for your positive energy. Prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings,” Madonna wrote in her message to the public.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.
“I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”
The Like a Virgin hitmaker went on to say she will now focus on her “health and getting stronger” so that she can be back to her full self as soon as possible.
She also promised to reschedule her North American part of the tour, which was set to kick off in mid-July, and first go through with the Europe leg in October.
“I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support. Love, M,” she concluded.
The singer was also pictured chatting with a friend outside her New York City home while sporting a casual outfit including Nike shoes, dark shorts, and an oversized shirt.
Our thoughts are with Madonna as her recovery continues.
