Russian forces have reportedly claimed a major victory, which is considered to be the first since the war against Ukraine began.
The news comes as the Ukrainian city of Kherson has fallen to Russian troops as major tanks and vehicles could be seen rolling through the city center just moments ago.
The Mayor of Kherson has now urged the city’s residents to obey the troops who he deemed to be ‘armed visitors’ as more and more casualties are feared.
But the news is definitely worrisome for Ukraine as capturing the city of Kherson means that they are opening it up to Odesa which is considered to be the country’s main port as well as a naval base.
Experts claim that it’s a huge security threat to the country as it makes the nation more vulnerable to attack a giant number of ships were seen off of the coast. Moreover, this news also comes at a time when the US has issued a stern warning about how a major assault could potentially come about today.
Overnight, it was devastating to see two of Ukraine’s leading cities which include Kyiv and Kharkiv being bombarded as many of the target areas included areas restricted to civilians.
Kherson is known to be a regional capital city that houses nearly 300,000 citizens on the Black Sea. The fact that it is under the control of Putin’s forces has made it extremely daunting for the world to watch as many fear this could be the start of Russia taking complete control of Ukraine.
“Armed visitors stormed our council meeting at about 1 am and they began to impose new rules and regulations which included strict curfew while urging citizens to follow them”- mentioned the Mayor.
