The world’s dirtiest man has passed away at the age of 94.
The man who hailed from Iran is believed to have gone 60 years without washing and now, locals want to scrub him up one last time before he is laid to rest.
The man was identified as 94-year-old Amou Haji who also feared that he would get sick if he took a shower or a bath. Hence, he chose to abstain from it for more than 60 years.
But one local says villagers did manage to drag him down to a bathroom for the first time in years so they could wash him. And now, they’re going to do the same while preparing for his final rites and rituals of being buried.
Haji’s favorite food was outlined to be a rotten porcupine and he is believed to have even smoked animal feces in a pipe. And if that wasn’t horrifying enough, he drank from a rusty oil can.
But out of all of his dirtiest achievements, not showers for more than half a decade is what really had people in absolute awe.
His death was reported from the village of Dejgah in Iran as confirmed by the IRNA news agency today.
Locals in his village assisted him in every way possible. They even designed an entire home made of open brick shacks so he has a good night’s rest there.
From head to toe, his body was covered in dust and soot. And for him, the sound of showering or getting clean turned his mood off.
Many villagers believe he chose this unique way of life after going through several different emotional setbacks during his younger years. And ever since then, he became isolated and chose to live like this forever.
