An 85-year-old man has been charged with shooting down a young teenager who reportedly knocked on the wrong door.

 

The suspect says he thought the young boy was trying to break into his residence because he ‘knocked’ consecutively and that is what prompted him to carry out the action. 

The news left hundreds of people stunned and the family is just beyond shocked at the grief that has fallen upon them through this senseless act. Moreover, sources from local media outlets mentioned how the startling incident took place at about 10 pm when the teen went to pick up his siblings. 

But little was he aware of what was to befall him in this tragic ordeal. The incident took place in Kansas City in Missouri and the boy victim was identified as Ralph Yarl. He was rushed to a nearby medical facility by the paramedics after his injuries were deemed critical. 

The police chief of Kansas City did confirm that the child managed to survive the incident and was released after undergoing emergency medical procedures. But the mental and physical trauma that he endured is just a lot to deal with at this point in time.

Many rumors regarding the incident arose with time and that includes how people called it racially motivated. But those have now been shot down as an investigation regarding the matter has now taken center stage. 

“It is an active investigation and we are now doing everything in our power to please calm everyone down. We need to be aware of this sort of behavior and how it’s not alright. For now, the suspect is in police custody and has been charged for the shooting”- the chief revealed. 

At the moment, there is a lot of frustration in the country regarding active shooting incidents and this just might be one of those instances.
