At least one person was killed and nearly 11 more were wounded in a mass shooting incident at a popular tourist area of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
According to reports from local media outlets, the officers observed a disturbance involving several individuals at about 11:50 pm on North Ocean Boulevard, and one person started to fire a weapon.
An officer responded by opening fire, and in the process, they shot someone who passed away from their injuries, as per the police.
The shooting arose near the Ripley’s Believe It or Not location that’s located just off the beach.
A woman could be seen grabbing her leg and yelling as two officers rushed to provide her with first aid.
One eyewitness shared how they recall hearing gunfire just begin going off everywhere. I remember seeing a girl who had fallen and was injured. I remember the person who had been shot fall to the ground’ – they continued.
Another shared how they saw blood splatter everywhere, and it was just so traumatizing.
The cause of this shooting is still not known yet but at about 10:30 pm, another witness shared how they were on the streets with their families, and that’s when someone yelled, ‘gun!’ and that had people fleeing for their lives.
