A massive blaze has engulfed a mega 42-floor skyscraper in China as firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene.
According to local media outlets, the massive blaze incident broke out in a building known to house several offices linked to the government’s telecommunications.
Sources have confirmed that the exact location of the incident was the Chinese city of Changsha.
Horrifying footage of people scrambling for their lives has gone viral from the incident as they fled amid an atmosphere of sheer dread and panic.
The sounds of ambulances and fire engines filled the air while thick plumes of smoke billowed out from the giant tower.
Officials confirmed that dozens of people were said to have made it out safely as hot and fiery debris fell down from the top floors onto the ground, hampering rescue and emergency efforts.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Government officials are yet to determine the cause of the incident as they say investigations are currently taking place.
While no casualties have been reported so far, many can’t help but wonder if this was a genuine accident or sabotage as the tower housed thousands of telecommunication records of citizens.
Authorities revealed that the blaze could be seen burning down dozens of floors of the tall tower China Telecom owns.
CCTV was the first media outlet to report the incident. According to them, it was just awful to see what had happened as the fire immediately got out of control and burned in a ferocious manner.
Around 280 firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly managed to bring the blaze down. If they didn’t arrive on time, many were scared for the worse as the building was 720 feet high and could have caused massive destruction.
