Tragic new details about Matthew Perry’s passing have emerged.
The 54-year-old actor, comedian, and Friends star died at his Los Angeles home on Saturday in presumed drowning after a suspected heart attack.
Now, heartbreaking new information about the weekend incident emerged as Captain Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department spoke out and revealed Perry was found unconscious in his jacuzzi.
“Los Angeles City Firefighters responded [and] found an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub,” he said.
“A bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival.”
Scott added: “A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival.
“The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner. We mourn with families and friends who lose a loved one unexpectedly.”
As of this writing, the death remains under investigation though no foul play is suspected.
Sources revealed that prescription drugs were found at the actor’s home though it is unclear if they played any role in his premature death.
It was also revealed that Perry drowned in his hot tub after a suspected cardiac arrest.
Speaking of the discovery the investigators made at the LA property, sources said anti-anxiety and anti-depression pills were found in the home. No illegal drugs were discovered.
Previously, the actor spoke candidly about his battle with depression and his on and off addiction issues.
He also said he wanted to be remembered not only as the guy who played Chandler Bing in the NBC sitcom but also as a man who did his best to help out other people struggling with addiction.
