Matthew Perry’s grieving family has broken silence after the actor and funnyman’s tragic death at 54.
The Friends star was found dead in the hot tub at his home in Pacific Palisades on October 28, 2023.
While his family remained silent while processing his sudden passing, Matthew’s beloved stepfather, Keith Morrison, now spoke out and told his stepson’s fans how to honor the late actor.
“This is not the sort of thing I commonly do, this pitch. But this year is different. Do what you can; he would have been grateful,” he wrote as he shared a link to the site of the Matthew Perry Foundation.
The non-profit organization was founded by Perry himself with the intention of helping people struggling with addiction.
“When I die, I don’t want ‘Friends’ to be the first thing that’s mentioned – I want helping others to be the first thing that’s mentioned.point 391 |
And I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that,” Perry previously admitted after revealing he struggled with alcohol abuse for decades.point 128 | 1
“Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down.”
Morrison’s request comes shortly after the family issued a similar statement. In the message shared by People, they wrote:
“It is important to us, as a family, to honor Matthew’s legacy. The potential that the Matthew Perry Foundation has to help those suffering from this disease is something we are proud to bring to the world.”
