Mayim Bialik confirmed that she was fired as the host of Jeopardy! after she wasn’t spotted on the popular game show since May.
The Blossom and The Big Bang Theory star took to Instagram on Friday to reveal that she would not be returning to the Sony show as she will be permanently replaced by her co-host Ken Jennings.
“As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news,” the actress wrote in her post.
“Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy! I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family.”
She continued: “For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz show, thank you.”
Confirming Bialik’s release from the show was also the official Jeopardy! account. In their statement, the showrunners revealed Jennings would be the sole host of the show for the upcoming season.
“Mayim Bialik has announced she will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!” the message read.
“We made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers. And Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy!
“We are truly grateful for all of Mayim’s contributions to Jeopardy!, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials.”
This comes after months of rumors that Bialik was fired from the show after she hadn’t appeared as Jennings’ co-host since May.
