The devastating ship catastrophe that caused the Baltimore Bridge to collapse is resulting in a buildup of tensions as citizens demand answers.
The Mayor of Baltimore was put under pressure to answer back-to-back grilling queries in regards to what exactly happened.
The news comes when a giant 100k-ton vessel rammed into the bridge, causing it to collapse. Therefore, a rescue and recovery operation is currently underway as the coast guard and sonar race against the tide to find as many survivors as they can.
Mayor Brandon Scott says dozens are still trapped under water and that is the main focus. But he lost his cool when one of the reporters asked how long it would take for the officials to rebuild the bridge.
“There are souls in the river. How dare you ask this right now? We need to focus on getting as many people back to shore as possible, not on developing the infrastructure again”- he yelled.
The temperatures are currently freezing and therefore as time goes on, hope is diminishing in regards to finding more people alive. This includes up to 20 victims who are still missing and amongst those are construction workers who were working on the bridge at that time.
The iconic bridge was destroyed when the Singaporean vessel carrying cargo slammed into it, right after it underwent a power failure.
But while the exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined, many wonder how a vessel operated by specialized pilots and crew members could end up being a part of this event.
