Harry and Meghan were reportedly “left furious” after it was revealed that their children won’t get HRH titles.
3-year-old Archie and 1-year-old Lilibet are expected to be officially recognized as prince and princess after King Charles III agreed to issue a Letters Patent.
The children of the Duke and Duchess, however, will not be granted HRH (Her/His Royal Highness) titles because they are not working royals, King Charles III allegedly decided.
The King’s decision has not been received well by the Sussexes who are worried about their children’s security and believe that their titles as prince and princess require the protection that comes along with the HRH titles.
As Harry and Meghan reportedly argued, Prince Andrew’s daughters, Eugenie and Beatrice, have HRH titles even though their father is not considered a working royal.
“Harry and Meghan were worried about the security issue and being prince and princess brings them the right to have certain levels of royal security,” an insider told The Sun.
“There have been a lot of talks over the past week. They have been insistent that Archie and Lilibet are prince and princess.”
The source added: “They have been relentless since the Queen died. But they have been left furious that Archie and Lilibet cannot take the title HRH.
“That is the agreement — they can be prince and princess but not HRH because they are not working royals.”
Though the use of HRH titles remains a privilege normally reserved for working royals, Archie and Lilibet automatically became prince and princess under King George V’s 1917 Letters Patent that limited and redefined royal titles.
