The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex will play important roles as they follow the Queen’s casket from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall.
The royal procession will start on Wednesday at 2:22 pm, with the Queen’s coffin expected to be at Westminster Hall at 3 pm.
The Royal family will walk behind Her Majesty’s coffin including all of her children – King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex will follow the coffin on foot alongside Peter Philips, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Prince Henry and the Earl of Snowdon.
Kate and Meghan will play a key supporting role as they follow the hearse by car with senior royals. They will accompany Camilla, Queen Consort, and Sophie Countess of Wessex during the event.
Camilla, the former Duchess of Cornwall, took on more responsibilities as a senior royal in recent years as she developed a special bond with the Queen.
According to Clarence House, she was touched when the Queen expressed her personal wishes for her to be known as ‘Queen Consort.’
Sophie Countess of Wessex, described as ‘the Queen’s favorite,’ also had a strong relationship with Her Majesty.
Both women leaned on each other through heartbreaking periods of personal loss.
The late monarch will lie-in-state in Westminster Hall until the state funeral on Monday, September 19.
The Archbishop of Canterbury will lead the service, accompanied by the Dean of Westminster.
Her Majesty’s royal casket arrived at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday night. Well-wishers lined the streets to bid the Queen a final farewell.
King Charles and his wife Camilla, the Queen Consort, exited their vehicle to greet mourners.
