Meghan Markle LIED In Her Bizarre Nelson Mandela Comment, Says The Only South African Cast Member Of The Lion King Remake

Meghan Markle has been branded as a liar after bizarrely claiming that people in Africa rejoiced when she joined the Royal Family.

During her controversial interview with The Cut, The Duchess of Sussex managed to cause an uproar after taking another swipe at her in-laws and claiming that a South African cast member of the Lion King live-action remake told her that his people “rejoiced in the streets” like they did when Nelson Mandela was freed from prison when she married Prince Harry.

“He looked at me, and he’s just like light. He said, ‘I just need you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison,’” Meghan claimed.

According to the Duchess, the exchange took place in 2019 during the movie’s premiere in London.

Now, however, Dr John Kani – the only South African cast member of the movie – told MailOnline that he never even spoke to Meghan and that she appeared to have made a major faux pas.

As Dr. Kani insisted, the only other South African working on the movie was composer Lebo M who wasn’t in the film’s cast.

Should Dr. Kani’s statements be true, this would mean the Duchess wasn’t telling the truth when she claimed a South African cast member of the Lion King remake had made the Nelson Mandela comments.

“I have never met Meghan Markle. This seems like something of a faux pas by her. I have I have never met the Duchess at all. I am the only South African member of the cast and I did not attend the premiere in London,” Dr. Kani insisted.

“I went to Hollywood as we opened there and from there I had to go immediately to Paris where I was shooting a film sequel, so I couldn’t hang around. The only South African was me playing Rafiki. But I did not go to the opening in Leicester Square as I didn’t have the time to do that. It just may be a mis-remembering on her side.”

The actor went on to refute Meghan’s claim of people rejoicing in the street upon her marriage to Prince Harry saying that the event was “no big deal” in his country.

“I cannot even tell you now what month she married or what year,” he added.

“In my memory, nobody would have known when she got married, when or what. We had no South African link to the wedding or to her marrying Harry.”
