Michael Jackson’s nephew Taj Jackson has spoken out about that Oscar slap and thanked Will Smith for slapping Chris Rock.
On March 27, 2022, Will Smith caused an uproar after storming the 94th Academy Awards’ stage and slapping comedian and presenter Chris Rock in the face over the latter’s joke about Jada Pinkett’s alopecia.
While the legendary Hollywood actor has since apologized for his actions, Chris Rock recently doubled down on shaming Smith’s marriage in a Netflix special called Chris Rock: Selective Outrage.
Now, Taj Jackson, the nephew of the King of Pop, spoke out and blasted the comedian for making fun of his uncle and comparing him to s*xual predator R. Kelly.
“Chris Rock has used my family as punching bags for his entire career. Yet I am supposed to feel bad for him getting slapped and humiliated on the Oscars,” Taj said.
“After seeing a new clip of him attacking my dead uncle in the first minutes of his ‘Retaliation-I’m still relevant’ special, I have 3 things to say.”
He continued: “1. What did my family ever do to you to warrant these decades of harassment and your constant bullying disguised as jokes? 2. Just because you were bullied early on in life doesn’t give you the excuse to bully others now. 3. Thank you Will Smith.”
The rant comes shortly after the premiere of Rock’s Netflix special in which he didn’t hold back in mocking Jada Pinkett, Will Smith, and the late singer.
“The thing I have a problem with is the selective outrage, selective outrage. Everybody, you know what I’m talking about,” Rock said.
“One person does something, they get canceled. Somebody else does the exact same thing -NOTHING. You know what I’m talking about. You know, like the kind of people that play Michael Jackson songs but won’t play R. Kelly. Same crime, one of them just got better songs.”
