Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella has broken her silence about her hair loss and revealed what led her to shave her head.
The 19-year-old daughter of the American TV presenter left Good Morning America viewers in tears as she opened up about her brain cancer diagnosis and revealed the doctors had discovered a golf ball-sized tumor.
Isabella also explained that she underwent emergency surgery immediately after her diagnosis, whereas she is currently gearing up to undergo months of intense chemotherapy.
In one clip she shared with her fans on YouTube, the teenager said: “It’s been rough, it’s been challenging and it’s been very hard, but I know I’ll get through it.”
In another video, she went on to reveal that she had her eggs frozen to increase her chances of having children in the future.
“That was not fun for me. I am not a big needle person so this whole experience… I’ve gotten used to my blood and IVs but shots? That was rough,” she said.
“Basically [it] was three shots in my stomach, hurt so bad, that was every day for maybe a week.”
Isabella also recalled the “sad” need to shave her head after her hair started falling out.
“So I cut my hair probably I would say like the end of the second week,” she said before joking that she made the decision at around 4 am as if she was going through a mid-life crisis.
“It started to thin and just kind of fall out… I couldn’t even like look at myself because of just worse than probably not having hair,” she added.
“It’s definitely sad. Because [I] don’t really cut my hair.”
Currently, the 19-year-old is facing six months of grueling chemotherapy at Duke University. Fortunately, her prognosis remains very optimistic despite the severity of her illness.
Our thoughts remain with Isabella as her treatment continues.
