Kate Middleton Shares She Is ALLERGIC To One Of The Queen’s Favorite Things


The Duchess of Cambridge could be excluded from one very important tradition that Queen Elizabeth treasures.

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, 40, is a member of the British royal family. Her husband, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, is second in the line of succession to the British throne, making Catherine a likely future queen consort.

It’s been said that Kate “holds future of the monarchy in her hands” and some see her as the hardest working royal, but she’ll never be able to take part in any horse-based activities as she’s allergic to the four-legged beasts.

The revelation came when she spoke to Australian author Kathy Lette during a polo match. When the author asked the Duchess why she didn’t choose to partake in the sport she admitted, “I’m allergic to horses.”

Clarisa Ru, the wife of Santa Barbara Polo Club president Wesley Ru, spoke to People and explained how Kate was trying to overcome the allergy. She shared that the Duchess tried to expose herself to horses in the hope to battle the allergy which is also called immunotherapy.

Clarisa said: “I got a chance to have a conversation with Kate, I asked if she was into polo before she met William. She said no, but she’s been riding horses for a while and she hopes to play polo one day.”

“She said “I’m actually allergic to them, but the more time one spends with them the less allergic you become,” she added.

A number of the Royal Family members are skilled horse riders who enjoy playing polo however, Kate’s allergy would likely disappoint the Queen who is obsessed with the animals.

Her Majesty has been inducted into the QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame. She is the first person to gain membership within the Special Contributor category.

During the Queen’s career in horse breeding, she has he has notched 452 wins out of a total of 2,834 races. This equates to a 15.9 percentage win rate.

Princess Anne is one of the most well-known figures linking royalty and horse riding. The Princess has competed from an early age. Princess Royal also represented Great Britain in the Olympics in 1976.

Royal Ascot is one of the most prominent horse racing events attended by the Queen and other royals including Kate.

The sports-mad Kate has recently been appointed as the royal patron of England Rugby and has already demonstrated her sports skills at a training session with the team. The new role sees Kate clash with her husband Prince William who is a patron of the Welsh Rugby League.

Kate tweeted from the Kensington Royal account to share the announcement penning: “I am so delighted to become patron of the @RFL and @EnglandRugby.”
